Graphical User Interface (GUI) Designer

An Entrepreneur Magazine winner of the “Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America Award”, located in the North Bay, is looking for a Graphical User Interface (DUI) Designer that can hit the ground running in a fun, competitive, fast-paced environment with a LOT of room to grow and expand.

We are looking for a talented UI Designer to create amazing user experiences.  The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills and the ability to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

We’re also looking for someone excited about the impact they can have on the world.  If you appreciate recognition for your contribution, this is the place for you.

You’ll be working with a 23 year old technology company and will be involved with every facet of helping our company grow through the intersection of technology with marketing.

You’ll work very closely with the other colleagues in the marketing department and engineering department.

This GUI Designer Position Will Require You To:

  • Collaborate with product management, marketing and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
  • Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

Who this position is for:

Someone who loves design and simplicity, but also analytics and measuring performance. It is perfect for someone who can skillfully blend art and science.

Who this position is not for:

This is not the right position for someone who wants to hang out at the water cooler all day or is closed to learning new ideas.  The learning curve is massive. This position is not for someone who enjoys talking over doing.

Requirements:

  • Proven UI experience
  • Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Balsamiq, Lucidchart, Invision, or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Experience creating living style guides
  • BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
